Introduction

Hello, this is the first entry in the SalcidoBlog. The purpose of this blog is to provide a place where members of the family can meet, ask questions, find answers, and become acquainted or even re-acquainted. The Salcido Empire extends as far north as Vancouver and as far south as Guatemala City. As far east as Zaragoza, Spain, and as far west as Shenzhen, China. There are more than 500 of us, in at least 6 different countries. It would be useful to have a place where we can meet to talk. Some ground rules, I guess:

  1. The official website is located at: http://parentseyes.arizona.edu/pentland-salcido/index.html

  2. Entries may be made in English or Spanish.

  3. This branch of the Salcido family has been traced back to Sonora, 1814 when Santiago Salcido was born. He married Juana Villa. This probably took place in San Miguel de Horcasitas, Sonora. We are descended through their son Cayetano, and (mostly) through his son Manuel. Information about earlier ancestors or missing branches is gratefully accepted. Pictures are even more welcome.

  4. The most recent edition of the family tree, may be found at this site: http://parentseyes.arizona.edu/pentland-salcido/genealogy.html

Hello. I am Shelly, my grandmother is Elosia Salcido. She is daughter of Esteban Salcido who was decendant of cruz salcido. Brother named pablo, and estebans mother was Natividad. I only have one name for her. He was married to San Juana Hinojosa. Lost most all contact with salcido family when my abuela's madre and padre died. Eloisa has sisters named sofia and virginia, my tia's. Esteban was born in mexico, and was a small boy when his name was added to the 1880's census records in mexico. I really want to find my familia in mexico and elsewhere. Family ties have been broken and must be reunited. I know very little espanol. If you have any information, please write me at earthshell@aol.com

Hello, I stumbled upon this site and was wondering if we may be related. Unfortunately, my knowledge of family history only goes back to my grandfather and is incomplete. His name was Salvador Salinas Salcido (Salinas was his mother's maiden name)and I believe he had siblings. He was born in a mining camp in either Arizona or New Mexico on February 25th 1912 and died in Fresno, California, on January 12th 1996. He married Valentina Vasquez and they had my aunts: Vera, Sally, Irene, Alice, and my Father Salvador. I am Salvador the third (at least- I don't know my great grandfather's name) and one of my twins is Salvador the fourth.

Any further information would be appreciated...

Hello fellow Salcido's

My cousin, that I found on the internet, has done extensive research on the family. Here is what we know.

The Salcido's are from the Basque region of Spain. The original Salcido's were sent by the Spanish crown to Chihuaha to engineer the silver/gold mines there.

From there, they have branched off to Sonora, Sinaloa, Arizona, Texas, California, Etc.

We are smart, creative, and very kind people. Some of us have the tendacy to party a little too much (others are drunks), the guys might have a little problem having only one woman. We wear our heart on our sleeve and love to help others.

I am proud of being a Salcido.

Interesting compilation of information on this website. Unsure if I may be related, however, this is worth a try. Grandmother Luisa Peru married Kiko Salcido in the 1930's. The Peru family was established here in Arizona and became naturalized citizens when Arizona became a State in 1912. My father Dionisio Peru Salcido, siblings Rosie and Fermin Salcido. I knew of a Great Uncle whom my father adored - Pablo Salcido and wife Mariquita, I believe from Clifton/Morenci AZ. Tio Pablo & Tia Mariquita Salcido were interviewed in a Documentary sponsored through ASU which viewed on PBS - Los Mineros. I've been unsuccesful in obtaining a copy of this documentary through ASU and other means. Interesting information as it also mentioned one of the first pioneers who attempted to make change for the miners - Abraham Salcido. Apparently, a "corrido" was written on his behalf in his attempt for betterment of the conditions pertaining to the miners. Possibly may have a related lineage to your ancestry and mine. Regardless whether we may have a connection here, I commend you on your extensive research and desire continued success in your "obra".

Hello, my name is Eileen Salcido Zamarripa
My father's name was Alijo Salcido
born in Silver City New Mexico on Feb.29,1908
His father's name was Pablo Salcido born in Siver City N.M.
Died in Los Angeles Ca. in I believe 1936
He was married to Patricia Soto from Chichuahua, Mexico. Their children's name were.
Thomas Silver City
Madaglena Silver City
Alberto Silver City
Guadalupe Silver City
Plutarco Silver City
Ignacio ( Lito ) Silver city
Nin ( which was a nick name but
I can't remember
her first name)
and my father Alejo Salcido.

Salcidodecorozon hit the nail right on the head. It was like he was decribing my family..Espically my father. when he said they were from Spain Basque country. Like to party and drink a little to much. My father had musical talent played the guitarra, Mandolina, Base, Reguinta. and could sing, had a voice that was out of this world. When I close my eyes I can still hear him singing...
Unfortunally he was a womanizer But that didn't take away the love he had for us, he was a very emotional man and cried when he was happy and when he was angry.
and trust me when he was angry and you were a man you were smart to stay out of his way..
My father died on May 2,1961
any information of when they lived in New Mexico would be grealy appreciated. They moved from N.M. in 1920 to Los Angeles.

On the subject line please put the Salcido name. otherwise my computer will send it to my spam.
This way I'll know where it's coming from and I won't delete it.

Thank You,
